Po pierwsze, chciałbym zapytać wszystkich, po co uczyć się angielskiego? Zadajcie sobie to pytanie i odpowiedzcie, wskazując na cel, a nie przyczynę... Przyczyny szybko się zmieniają, poza tym, są mało motywujące... A cele? Cele powinny być dla nas priorytetem... Czyli nie pytamy "dlaczego uczymy się angielskiego?" (wymusza to czasem głupie odpowiedzi - "bo sąsiad się uczy...") ale "po co?" - co nam ma to dać... Jak stawiać sobie właściwie sformułowane cele? Have a look :)
Goal should be:
a)
EXACT – it can’t be just general, for example – I will know
English – I have to admit, you will never know it (just like you do not know
Polish). When you say this way, you will have to really think hard how you want
to do it… And finally you will not achieve it… L
So,
what does the exact goal mean? – precise and accurate. See, what you want to
know in terms of English – any new
vocabulary, grammar or maybe you simply want not to use subtitles when you watch film?
b)
MEASURABLE - you have to
know when you achieve your goal. By defining the real borders of goals you will
find the moment when to stop (and create the new one).You can, for example say
– I want to know vocabulary connected with traveling. When you say that, you
know what to look for and, when the sources already found – you will know how
much you have to do.
c)
Now… It can appear, that the number of vocabulary you
find is very large. Now, you have to look inside yourself and ask yourself a
question: “how many words am I able to learn”. Remember, your goals have to be REALISTIC not only ambitious.
Imagine, that you say – I will learn two hundred Japanese words in two weeks.
First of all, if you are the beginner of Japan, you will not. What then? You
are sad, angry because you cannot do something, you planned. Because it is not
realistic! Be honest with yourself. If your neighbor can do it - it is ok, but
it is your life, your brain and your motivation J.
d)
TIME LIMITED – it is crucial to see, if we work well. We should set
small goals, so that we can see the results. And achieving these little goals
should last short, to encourage us to go on.
So –
our goal list should look like this:
1.
The fragment of English I want to learn: vocabulary
(psychology)
2.
What fragment of psychology vocabulary I want to know?
: connected with children development
3.
Measures: I will know 50 word in two weeks.
4.
Where to find them: on the internet, in dictionaries
etc.
5.
When am I going to start and finish? : this Friday and
I will learn till Friday in two weeks.
6.
How am I going to learn?:

Some
of the questions above I left without answer, because different methods of learning are suitable for
different people – I will write about it soon.
Remember,
after realizing the goal you have to organize your space (surrounding) – you
will have to make some changes. Do not ever tell yourself: “I DO NOT HAVE TIME”
– set the goals the way, you would do it J
